Seattle Foundation Takes Part in New Funding Collaborative

Seattle Foundation, Bullitt Foundation, Loom Foundation and Social Venture Partners join to create the Sustainable Communities Funders group

March 03, 2016

Seattle Foundation has teamed up with the Bullitt Foundation, Loom Foundation and Social Venture Partners to create a new funding collaborative – the Sustainable Communities Funders group.

While each of the fund partners has individual giving programs committed to supporting healthier and vibrant communities, we are eager to jointly fund initiatives through this opportunity that have the potential to strengthen impact.

We’re excited to announce a one-time funding initiative for nonprofits serving King County and working to solve environmental and economic challenges, while ensuring the voices at the table are representative of the community served. A key priority of this funding opportunity is to support non-traditional partnerships working to solve difficult problems in new ways. The total funding available is $200,000 with grant awards to be made in June in the range of $50,000-100,000.

Nonprofits are invited to apply by April 15, 2016.

Applicants are asked to apply as a partnership with shared interests in solving a social issue that addresses environmental sustainability and economic development, through an equity lens. It is encouraged that organizations come together who have not previously worked together or for those who have, their proposed idea is one that is new or innovative in how to address an issue.

The Sustainable Communities Funders collaborative is deeply committed to addressing issues at the intersection of environmental sustainability, equitable inclusion and economic opportunity and recognizes that systemic urban problems are far too complex to solve alone. Together SCF partners want to better understand our shared landscape and jointly support innovative solutions to pressing social, environmental and economic challenges.

For further information, please contact any of the SCF collaborative partners or send questions to SCF@philanthropynw.org.
